An invited competition to develop an ecologically friendly and predominantly passive energy office complex for the expanding city of Murcia in southern Spain. Developed by CRAB studio and Salvador Perez Arroyo.
Techniques involved are the creation of a 'damp core', the use of bamboo filter walls, the incorporation of computer-controlled shutters and the careful configuration of office space to avoid overheating. The entry was well received by the jury and looked set to be developed to detail design when the Spanish economic crisis hit in late 2008 and further work was stopped. The City of Murcia remains highly interested in the project.
